In this paper, we propose a UAV aided edge computing framework, which is a compressed convolution neural network (CNN) model. To run on an aboard embedded graphics processing unit (GPU) for real-time disaster scene classification, an unbalanced dataset called and Emergency.

 

Response Aerial Image Database (AIDER) is used to replicate real-world disaster scenarios.

 

Experimental results show that the throughput of the optimized compression model is improved by about 99%, which is 92 times faster than the native model. In addition, with the proposed framework, the model size is reduced by about 84% without affecting the accuracy, thus suitable for edge GPUs.
